Le docteur Hussam Abu Safiya, directeur de l’hôpital Kamal Adwan à Gaza, a été arrêté sans jugement le 27 décembre 2024, à la suite de la destruction de son hôpital par l’armée de Netanyahu. C’était le dernier hôpital opérationnel du nord de la bande de Gaza. Toujours emprisonné, il est torturé dans la prison de Sde Teiman, située au sud d’Israël, connue pour être un lieu de tortures et de violations du droit humanitaire.

L’insoumission relaie dans ses colonnes un appel pour demander la libération du docteur Hussam Abu Safiya. Dans la nuit du 17 au 18 mars 2025, l’armée de Netanyahu a tué au moins 330 personnes, dont des enfants. Le cessez-le-feu a été rompu, les bombes ont recommencé à tomber. Libération immédiate du Docteur Hussam Abu Safiya !

Le 27 décembre 2024, le Dr Hussam Abu Safiya a été arrêté par l’armée israélienne et placé en détention, sans jugement.

Jusqu’à son arrestation, le Dr Hussam Abu Safiya dirigeait l’hôpital Kamal Adwan, le dernier hôpital fonctionnel du nord de la bande de Gaza. Le 27 décembre, cet hôpital a été détruit et incendié. Ses personnels et les patients, pour ceux qui avaient survécu aux bombardements et à l’assaut des soldats israéliens, ont été arrêtés, avant d’être emprisonnés.

Un acte de barbarie qui s’inscrit dans la continuité de tous ceux commis contre la population de Gaza, soumise pendant des mois et des mois à des bombardements systématiques, coupée du reste du monde, placée sous un blocus meurtrier, la privant d’approvisionnement en nourriture, en eau potable, en médicaments. La condamnant à mort.Dans le respect ultime de son engagement pour les malades et les blessés, le Dr Hussam Abu Safiya a continué à organiser, sous les bombes, les soins qu’il était le dernier à assurer dans son hôpital.
L’annonce a immédiatement provoqué une vague d’indignation à l’échelle internationale, un vaste mouvement de solidarité et de soutien exigeant sa libération immédiate. Plus de deux mois après, les autorités israéliennes refusent toujours sa libération. Les informations qui nous parviennent, étayées par de nombreux témoins, sont alarmantes et font état d’actes de torture.

Aujourd’hui, 160 médecins et personnels soignants de Gaza sont détenus dans les prisons israéliennes.

Nous sommes témoins de cela, de la volonté affirmée et revendiquée par plusieurs membres du gouvernement israélien de parachever la destruction totale du système de soins à Gaza, afin d’y rendre la vie impossible.

Nous sommes confrontés au silence des gouvernements, de leurs soutiens, ou à leur complicité. C’est la réalité déshumanisante du génocide.
Nous, militants d’appartenances et d’horizons divers, élus, syndicalistes, médecins… affirmons la nécessité absolue d’un cessez-le-feu total et définitif, de l’arrêt des livraisons d’armes au gouvernement Netanyahu, du respect des structures de soins, d’acheminement de matériel et de médicaments de base. Au moment où plusieurs associations médicales israéliennes dont physicians for human rights alertent sur la situation faite aux personnels médicaux à Gaza, nous disons avec eux : Gaza a besoin de ses docteurs.

Nous exigeons la libération immédiate du Dr Hussam Abu Safiya et de tous les personnels de santé détenus, décidons de nous organiser le plus largement possible dans cet objectif et de prendre toutes les initiatives nécessaires pour y parvenir, notamment en direction des autorités israéliennes et de leurs représentants dans nos pays respectifs.
